Session

Modern technologies for web-based-gaming

This year is the year of NodeJS, WebGL, Canvas and HTML5 in general. We have audio APIs, we have web sockets and we have hardware acceleration available for both 2D and 3D gaming in the browser – all driven by Javascript (or Coffeescript if that is your thing).

In this session we’ll look at the major technology choices available for building web-based games, and drill down into the methods and technologies for building awesome interactive and cross-platform multiplayer experiences in the browser.

There will be some shiny demos, some less shiny demos and with any luck you’ll leave feeling empowered enough to go home and build that kickass game you always wanted.
