Martin did his undergraduate studies in Mathematics and Physics at McGill University during which he did summer interships in experimental particle physics and theoretical condensed matter physics.
He then went on to obtain his Ph.D. with Prof. Raymond Laflamme at the IQC. During these five years, he contributed to the development and implementation in liquid state NMR of several techniques to increase the control and understand the decoherence present in quantum systems.
As a postdoctoral researcher, Martin joined Prof. Lieven Vandersypen at the Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands, where he worked on the spin to charge conversion in single electron, laterally-gated semi-conductor quantum dots.
Ever since the beginning of his studies and during his years as a graduate student at IQC, Martin has been involved in several outreach activities and always had the passion of communicating science to whoever wants to listen. This is the reason Martin came back to IQC to pursue his passion and enhance and develop IQC’s outreach program.
Martin’s other interests include traveling, world cuisine, golfing, sports in general and socializing.
